This painting was inspired by my most memorable and magical whale encounter. My sister and I were sat along the shore leading into the Ladysmith harbour which is a small channel. Suddenly this large orca surfaced from the water gracefully, mere feet away, swimming slowly back out into the open ocean, allowing us extra time to admire him.
